In January 2012, Hexagon acquired MicroSurvey Software Inc., a Canadian-based developer of surveying and mapping software for the land surveying, construction, and forensic markets. The acquisition has expanded Hexagon’s product offerings and software development capabilities, and it has provided MicroSurvey with additional resources to develop new products and leverage existing synergies.

During Hexagon 2012 in Las Vegas, June 4-7, Darcy Detlor, president of MicroSurvey, talked about some of these developments. For example, MicroSurvey’s FieldGenius is now running on some of the Leica total stations. MicroSurvey is also developing solutions for the new Leica Zeno 5 (shown in the video above), a powerful, rugged GPS handheld with a high-speed processor and full phone functionality that is integrated into the Leica Zeno GIS series.

The integration of MicroSurvey with Hexagon is creating new solutions for users. Watch the video interview to learn more about these solutions as well as changes in MicroSurvey’s distribution channels.
