In October 2011, AVEVA acquired LFM Software from Z+F. The hardware- and CAD-neutral, open software package was already a favorite for managing laser scan data in the process, power and marine industries. As a long-time partner of Z+F, AVEVA was confident it could accelerate the growth of the core LFM product suite and build new solutions to provide users with even greater benefits.

AVEVA IntelliLaser and LMR were the first products to build on the strength of LFM. When integrated into an asset management toolset such as AVEVA NET, IntelliLaser allows users to automatically hotspot laser bubbleviews and therefore more easily navigate a plant from a remote location, which saves time onsite, reduces cost and risk, and improves project efficiency.

At SPAR International 2012 in Houston, Graham Dalton, vice president of 3D data capture for AVEVA/LFM, and Matthew Craig, business development manager, shared details on the latest innovations, including the release of LFM Server 4.1 and Scan Gateway. Watch the video interview above to find out how these advances will provide laser scan service providers with new capabilities and more intelligent handling of point clouds.
